Paradoxes
Miriam, Channeled by John

In response to a channeling on forgiveness, someone wrote: "I think consciousness is the cusp of the meeting of two or more conflicting impeti, that create a paradox. The paradox propels consciousness into self awareness, somehow creates consciousness.

Like the paradox of "nothing really matters" and "everything matters immensely."

Somehow, intuitively, it seems to me that it gives rise to the feeling of I, of self value. To escape the paradox, I cry "I am."

Q: Miriam? Would you comment?

A: I am Miriam. You have raised a very difficult question. I shall attempt to answer, as best I can. First, the idea of a paradox depends entirely upon logical linear thinking within linear time, and upon the ideas of cause and effect. Logic is a very powerful tool, within a very limited area. Tomm told you that reality is rational, but it is not logical. You do not accept this, but it is quite true. Logic is a very tight straitjacket that you use to attempt to "control" your experience of reality. It ONLY applies within a very narrow set of circumstances. A paradox appears when something SEEMS to fit logic, and yet leads to an obvious irrationality. Zeno's paradox was one such. It was not solved so much as transcended, by widening the limits you had "logically" imposed. Any paradox shows you a weak place in your "logical" reality—a place that might be well worth exploring. Now, when you step outside of the confines of logic, the paradox will vanish. Let us look at the particular paradox that Anna has raised.

"Everything matters."

"Nothing matters."

Like Zeno's paradox, the apparent conflict vanishes from a wider point of view. Since you do not yet have that viewpoint, I will do my best to explain it in logical, linear sentences. The real crux of the discomfort is that the second sentence seems to devalue you. It seems to say that what you do and are makes no difference. This is untrue. Everything you do, even the smallest fleeting thought, has more importance than you can imagine—but not in the way that you think of "importance." Your choices are important, but they do not matter.

One of the characteristics of the reality you have set for yourselves is the availability of "choices." In other realities, "choice" in that sense does not exist. You think of choice in the sense that you might have A, or you might have B, and you consider both, and imagine what might happen with both, and then finally CHOOSE one of them to bring to actuality. You ignore (and usually forget) the other possibility. In other realities, anything you imagine is instantly "realized," or created. You can NOT hold two different possibilities in mind, and choose one, because BOTH become real. And anything that is created exists for always. In your reality, you have used "time" to enforce a delay between when you imagine something and when it becomes a physical reality. You use that delay to turn your attention away from the creation that you did not choose, so that you no longer are aware of it. However, it exists, just as surely as the creation that you did choose.

Now, let us examine this just a bit more. Every tiny, fleeting thought, everything you imagine, is created. Every creation is equally important to AllThatIs. It is a little like a balloon or a soap bubble—you cannot take away any piece of it without destroying the whole. Every piece is vital. Now, we cannot carry this analogy very far, because it is impossible to destroy any tiny spark of ATI, but the idea is correct. So when we tell you that "It matters not," we are being truthful. Every possibility is, in fact, realized. And yet, it DOES matter to you how you "choose." I can only explain it in terms of building a work of art. Your life is truly a work of art—it is a creation—it is an expression of your "self." It is like creating a play, or a painting, or a sculpture, or a symphony, or whatever—every element of it contributes to the overall result. No element is unimportant. And you, quite purposefully, CHOOSE each tiny element, and each element contributes to the whole. Imagine that all the notes that could ever be played exist in some giant warehouse. You select a specific set for your symphony. You arrange them into a pattern which pleases you. The notes still exist. Others can use them in other patterns. It doesn't matter whether you have chosen any particular one or not. The pattern is new—it is your creation. But it is not a "good" pattern, or a "bad" pattern, because those words have no meaning. It is a pattern. It exists. On some level, in some way, it pleases you. It may please other awarenesses, as well, but it "matters not." It is your creation, and you love it. You can do nothing less.

Any reality of which I am aware consists of patterns. Every awareness in a given reality contributes patterns, and we share them. There is no thought of "ownership." Any pattern you create does carry along a connection to you, but any pattern of which you have become aware does the same. Your "selfness" does not consist of "a collection of experiences," or "a collection of accomplishments," or a "collection of patterns." It is rather a ... and here words fail. Perhaps we can call it a "feeling tone." There is an individuality to each awareness that is never lost. You can join your awareness with that of others, and the result is a "greater" awareness. That greater awareness KNOWS that it is you, because it IS you. It also KNOWS that it is all of the others who are a part of it. You are never less "you" than you are now. Your sense of identity will in fact grow stronger as you expand. I am finding no way to express this. Perhaps I can say it this way. Your identity, your "you-ness," does not depend upon anything except you. And it can never be diminished. Nothing you "do" can affect it. And it is in this way that "it matters not." Each experience is a part of what you are creating. Your creation is perfect, no matter how you choose, because your greater self consists of all possibilities. You are gradually moving towards an awareness of this. You find it unnerving now, because you are afraid of what will happen if you "lose control" of your life. Once you are aware of how you create every aspect of your existence, you will see that there never was anything to control. And once you give up the idea of control, then you will truly understand "it matters not."

Thank you, Miriam.
